Glass Tile Table

Early last year a good friend was giving away a bucketload of tile samples she got from a specialty store. I didn’t want everything, but I did want the glass tiles. I have wanted to try another table project ever since the back porch coffee table project. And now I want a bench/table on the front porch.

I soaked the cards off the tile over the course of several weeks. Some paper needed peeling off.

And then they all went into a box. Where they sat for months. And months. I thought about what style table or bench would be easy to build and sturdy enough for all weather. I have a jigsaw, a miter saw, and a table saw. But I don’t have a band saw, so I’m a little limited in some of the pieces I can cut.

Anyway, I went to a local unfinished wood furniture store. I was thinking about finding something already built that I could just tile the top. But I didn’t want to fit my pattern to the table. I’d rather have it the other way around. So I flipped it upside down and took pictures to use as my design.

A few days ago I got bored. (I know. Amazing.) I’ve worked out the design. Now I just have to wait patiently until the weather is good enough to spend the weekend in the garage building the bench. More to come in April or May…probably.

But what color to paint the bench?

Hi-ho! I am trying to remember what color your house is….I wanna say dark green. I would go with the main color a grey close to that center tile and have the cross boards along the length have a blue or green. I bet in person I could vision it better.

I’m with you, Misty. I’d pick up on that vibrant darker aqua for the color boards. However, we know Debby is good with color and will decide on her own, right?
